John Edmonds gladly joins Walt Petersen and his colleagues from Regency Properties in the transition of opening their new office, Mountain Select Properties of Ashe, in West Jefferson. Having lived here in Ashe County and practiced real estate for over 7 years as a Broker, my real estate experience has made me highly knowledgeable and appreciative of Ashe County.

Prior to moving to Ashe County from Charlotte, I achieved my real estate sales license from the prestigious Mingle School of Real Estate in Charlotte, N.C., and later my Broker’s license from Central Piedmont Community College, I then joined Coldwell Banker Real Estate in one of their branch offices located in the Arboretum area of southeast Charlotte.

I and my wonderful wife Martha, a Science and Math teacher at the local Ashe County Middle School, moved to the high country of Ashe following his semi-retirement from the Celanese Acetate Corporation in Charlotte, with close to 30 years of service (the last 15 years in Marketing & Sales and Technical Service). We purchased a rustic log home with great mountain views and cool breezes in the summer of 2002, our perfect mountain get-a-way!

 

Martha and I had been coming to Ashe County for several years prior, coming for the recreation the County provides with New River, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and State Parks. Our visits were frequent as they volunteered to ‘inn sit’ for the owners of the River Farm Inn off Railroad Grade Road in Fleetwood. Those frequent trips 'inn sitting' proved to be infectious and ‘sold’ them on Ashe County. So we decided this was the ‘place’ where they needed to 'retire' someday. And with four grown children, 2 sons and 2 daughters, ages 26-34, they had no real close ties to the Charlotte area...another good reason to move to the peace and serenity of the mountains. Of course, the availability of a teaching position for Martha helped make the decision that much easier.

Living in a log home in the mountains is like a dream come true. We can truly say that living in the mountains of Ashe has been a great experience for us! You need to personally discover Ashe County and what it has to offer…its natural beauty, its recreational opportunities, and its friendly people. Your dream is only a short drive away! I am always eager and ready to service my buyer clients that are considering the purchasing of a permanent home, or a second/vacation home here in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Ashe County and nearby surrounding areas.
